A home for 100+ families who lack decent shelter

Next to the City of Cluj-Napoca, famous as Romania’s most inaccessible real estate market, we’re writing a story of hope. When complete, the “Britta Sofia” Community will be the largest social housing community we’ve ever built. Sixteen families already call this place home, with four more moving in over the next year.

And we’re just getting started: our new development concept includes 100+ new homes, a playground, orchards and community gardens.

The housing program in Cluj has existed since 1999, and has built 7 communities with 100 new homes, all while helping more than 1,000 others with renovations or repairs. In 2022, we became a Covenant Partner of the Fuller Center for Housing, having shared in Millard Fuller’s vision from our very beginnings.

Thousands of volunteers from accross the globe have volunteered with us for the last 25 years, and today you’re invited to join them as a Global Builder!

In more than 20 years of leading international volunteer teams, Cluj is the only place I’ve returned to. The staff and board members that we met are exceptional, and we loved being with them every day. I’ll be back in 2025 as well, and hope to meet you there!
