In 2023, Staci Summers told us she’ll be back in Jucu with a new team, after helping us built duplex no 9 for the Bica and Rus families. This year, she’s back with 9 other volunteers building the future of the Călean and Bereschi families. One more thing – Staci told us that, after more than a decade of building across the world, Romania is the first country she’s returning to, following the amazing experience of last year.
Staci, Katherine, Steve, Susie, Kathy, Michele, Mike, Bobby, Cathy and Sam started the week of home building with a challenge – identifying construction tools by their Romanian names. But after a proper safety briefing – in English! – our Global Builders really got building!
As with all our US teams, work is mixed with fun – discovering the old city vibes, dining downtown in historic settings, taking tours to nearby castles and attractions that make Transylvania famous. And with a team like Staci’s, “fun” is also a good word for the hard work that happens on the build site, meeting families, exchanging stories and working together for a more hopeful future.
