A faith-driven ministry helping families without a home
We are Covenant Partners of the Fuller Center for Housing since 2022, but we’ve always followed Millard Fuller’s vision of building a world where every family has a decent place to live.

Building a community of renewed hope
Our largest project yet, the “Britta Sofia” non-profit housing community in Jucu de Sus is already home to 16 families, with space for 100 more! Built on public, leased land, the community features homes that “grow with the family” by design.
A playground, orchards and community gardens will make this area a beautiful place to call Home.

Why we’re needed
While Romania and the city of Cluj-Napoca are quickly developing economically, thousands of people are being left behind, living in inadequate or downright dangerous conditions.
We’ve met people living in overcrowding – several generations to a room. People who made a garage their home for a decade or who slept in parks. We’ve seen “homes” that were dangers to the family health instead of a safe above.
And everytime we were able, we chose to help.

Questions and answers about our work
We are a non-profit legally registered in Romania, that seeks to eradicate poverty housing by promoting partnerships with individuals and community groups to build and rehabilitate homes for people in need. We build and renovate simple, affordable homes for low-income families from vulnerable groups, giving working families a “hand up” and helping them break the poverty cycle and start new, stable and happy lives.
We rely on donations and volunteering to achieve our vision of a world where each family has a decent place to call Home.
The Fuller Center for Housing of Cluj, Romania was founded in 2022, when the team of PRIMA DATĂ ACASĂ signed the Covenant Partnership with the Fuller Center for Housing. They two remain two distinct legal entities that share a vision, as well as resources, to achieve more and help more families in need than was possible before, by bringing together local involvement and international volunteers.
PRIMA DATĂ ACASĂ means „first time at home” and was founded in 1999 under the name Habitat pentru Umanitate Cluj. In 2016, members decided to continue work independently, and today no affiliation with Habitat for Humanity exists. ACASĂ also developed projects in the fields of public health and education, by using its construction knowhow to renovate schools or rural medical offices.
In Cluj, our work now focuses in the village of Jucu de Sus, where we’ve leased 7 hectares of land for a community like no other: the largest social housing community we’ve ever built, called Britta Sofia. Globally, the Fuller Center for Housing serves families in 20 countries and more than 70 locations in the U.S. Look up other locations on our global website.
Simply put, we believe our hands can prove God’s love for His people, through service for families in need. All our operations are based on Millard Fuller’s “Theology of the Hammer” and “Economics of Jesus”. We work in partnership with people around the world, of all faiths and backgrounds, to build God’s Kingdom on earth by improving and transforming lives.
We welcome people of all faiths, or no faith at all, because being Christian refers to us, not something we require of others. Knowing that God is love, and valuing the worth of every human being, The Fuller Center for Housing does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, age, gender, sexual orientation or sexual identity in joyfully welcoming people from all walks of life as volunteers or in selecting beneficiaries for our services.
If you never owned a home and live in sub-standard conditions, you may qualify for our non-profit housing program. We select working families that earn below the average wage and couldn’t get bank loans, based on the urgency of a new home in their particular situation. We encourage you to read more (in Romanian) and register through local partner PRIMA DATĂ ACASĂ.
